✘ Identify the genre (epic, lyric, dramatic, epistolary)
✘ Decide on the style (bookish, neutral, colloquial: phrasal verbs, slang,
contracted forms, elliptical sentences, hesitation devices, the
combination)
✘ Specify the type of the story (detective, social significance,
humorous, love, sci-fi)
✘ Define the theme, by-themes, the idea of the text
✘ Plot structure (open/close, exposition, story, climax, denouement)
✘ Language/ stylistic devices (prevailing tense, metaphors, epithets,
allusions, irony, etc )
✘ Personal opinion
