became the largest course in the
current year, while Fitness and
dance remained unchanged. In
contrast, Music Appreciation and
Local History were no longer
offered.

The most significant change was the introduction of IT,
which became the largest subject, accounting for 27 %
of students. In contrast, Music Appreciation was no
longer offered, although it had accounted for 8% of
students in 1985. Similarly, Local History was removed
from the list of courses, despite representing 15% of
enrolments in 1985.

Fitness and Dance remained stable, accounting
for 22 % in both 1985 and the current year.
Meanwhile, the proportion of students taking
Cookery increased from 14% to 19%. By
comparison, Art experienced a slight decline,
falling from 17% to 15%. And even larger
decrease was observed in Modern Languages,
where the figure dropped from 24% to 17%.

Overall, the majority of dance
lessons take part in private studios,
whereas college-based studios are
the least attended. The highest
number of students under 11
choose ballet dances as a type of
dance styles among all the given
dance classes, while as teenagers
become older, they tend to change
their preferences in favor of
modern classes.

Regarding class locations, nearly half (48%) of all dance
lessons are held in private studios, making this the most
common venue. College-based studios are the least
preferred, representing just 10 % of the total.

In terms of types of dance classes, ballet attracts the highest number
of children under 11, with approximately 600 students, whereas the
older group (11-16) has fewer than 300 participants. Modern dance
classes, by contrast, have over 500 older students, while only 300
younger participants are enrolled. Tap dance shows a slight
difference between the two age groups, with around 450 children
under 11 and just over 400 students aged 11 to 16.
