Frederiksborg Castle
(Frederiksborg Slot) is a
magnificent Renaissance palace
located on three small islands in the
middle of Castle Lake (Slotsøen) in
the heart of Hillerød, Denmark. Built
in the early 17th century by King
Christian IV, it stands as the largest
Renaissance complex in Scandinavia
and is often referred to as the
"Danish Versailles." Since 1878, it
has housed The Museum of National
History.
