Степени сравнения: что это такое?
Степени сравнения прилагательных в английском представляют
собой по смыслу то же самое, что и в русском языке.
Comparative (сравнительная степень)
— когда сравниваем два предмета или человека:
Tom is taller than Sam. (Том выше, чем Сэм.)
Superlative (превосходная степень)
— когда говорим о самом/самой в группе (один среди многих):
She is the tallest in the class. (Она — самая высокая в классе.)

Для коротких
прилагательных
(short adjectives)
Для длинных
прилагательных
(long adjectives)
Comparative
(сравнительная степень)
Superlative
(превосходная степень)
Добавляем – er
Добавляем – est (+ артикль «the»)
young – younger
tall - taller
young – the youngest
tall – the tallest
Comparative
(сравнительная степень)
Superlative
(превосходная степень)
Добавляем «more»
Добавляем «the most»
interesting
→ more interesting
interesting
→ the most interesting

Правила написания
для односложных прилагательных
• Если прилагательное оканчивается на -e: добавляем только -r / -st
nice → nicer → the nicest
• Если односложное прилагательное заканчивается
на гласную + согласную в конце — удваиваем последнюю согласную
big → bigger → the biggest
hot → hotter → the hottest
(не удваиваем, если
последняя буква w, x, y)
• Если оканчивается на -y: меняем y → i и добавляем -er / -est
happy → happier → the happiest

Неправильные (irregular) прилагательные
• good → better → the best
• bad → worse → the worst
Такие прилагательные
не подчиняются общему правилу,
поэтому их нужно выучить.
• little → less → the least
• many / much → more → the most
Пример: This book is better than that one. — Эта книга лучше той.
