If the UN cannot stop the war,
what needs to be changed in
the international security
system?

2.

The United Nations was established after World War II to
T
ensure a lasting and just peace as the foundation of the global
legal order. While this mission was carried out over a long
period—albeit not always swiftly or successfully—in recent
years we have witnessed the UN’s critical inability to halt
unjust wars, aggression, and violations of international law.

3.

The time has come to comprehensively assess the
challenges and threats facing the world in light of the UN’s
diminished capacity. How must we alter the international
security architecture to make the world a safer, fairer, and
better place to live?

Why is it incorrect to speak of suspending or revoking the
Russian Federation's UN membership?
As is well known, it is impossible to revoke the membership of a
country that never actually acquired such membership in
accordance with the Organization's founding documents.
Consequently, any statements regarding the suspension,
restriction, or revocation of the Russian Federation's UN
membership actually serve to legitimize the country's status
within the UN—something that is unacceptable.
