The Irkutsk region was founded on September 26,
1937. The Irkutsk region is located in Eastern
Siberia and covers an area of 775 thousand
square kilometers. The population is 2 million 507
thousand people in 2012. The indigenous
population is Russians, Buryats, Evenks, Tofalars.

minerals: oil, gas, gold, coal, marble, gypsum, talc.
