Sergy - the founder of the monastery near Moscow. He was born near
Rostov on May 3, 1314. After death of parents he went to the
monastery and founded church.
Sergey was silent and mild, reconciled the conflicting princes. Before
the Battle of Kulikovo Dmitry Donskoy went to Sergy to pray and
receive a favoring.
The Battle of Kulikovo ended with a victory. On September 25, 1392
the Reverend Sergy died. In 1452 he was canonized.

2014 is declared by the decree of the president of Russia year of
culture. same year the 700 anniversary of the builder of the Russian
spiritual culture
Reverend Sergey Radonezhsky is celebrated. If we speak about the
Reverend Sergiya, we mean the Russian culture if we speak
about culture - we go back mind to the Reverend Sergy.
