LIFE-HACKS FOR PREPARATION
• Firstly, what do you need to write? – Clause, Policy Statement, Speeches
• Wrap your head around your agenda – Read study guide from Chairs, official
UN bodies’ reports, scientific articles and researches and the latest news,
basically not only Wikipedia
• Have something to refer to - Study thoroughly previously adopted legal acts,
resolutions, conventions, agreements and, of course, UN Charter
• Don’t reinvent the wheel – Check previously adopted solutions, sanctions,
embargoes, in order to avoid repeating or plagiarism, think of something new
and extraordinary

• Don’t be isolationist – Find materials and facts not only for your country, but also for
other key players in the agenda, look for something compromising about them
• Complement with numbers – Use statistics, infographics and other data to understand the
level of importance and justify your own suggestions (https://ourworldindata.org/;
https://fundforpeace.org/fsi/; CIA Archives and etc.)
• Be always aware – Monitor the list of news agencies, informational projects or other
media sources to know the situation from different sides, and because everything can
change in one second (The Economist, BBC, Russia Today, Anadolu Agency, DW, AlJazeera, LiveUAMap)
• Like a gentleman - Make a list of phrases for diplomatic etiquette, practice writing
speeches to your arguments, learn to speak expressively
• Before all else, be armed (Machiavelli) - write out all the necessary facts and ideas in
thesis, print important documents for demonstration
