2. Monologue

is a long speech by one actor in
a play or movie, or as part of a
theatrical or broadcast program.

3. Monologue can be divided:

1. Introductory phrase
2. The first thesis (question)
3. Arguments to the first thesis (2-3)
4. The second thesis (question)
5. Arguments to the second thesis
6. Final phrase

4. When you talk alone, you should:

1. Speak loudly and confidently
2. Keep track of your gestures
3. Be brief
4. Don’t be like a robot, be yourself!
5. Calm down and smile. (You can joke, if
it’s appropriate)

5. Some words are recommended:

I’m going to give a talk about…
Firstly, secondly, thirdly, finally,…
Generally, admittedly, in fact, importantly,…
In addition, moreove, furthermore,…
Undoubtedly, indeed, surely, naturally, obviously,…
