Sacred animals
• Animals have been traditionally considered sacred in Hindu
culture. The symbolic significance of animals are as vehicles of
god or deities themselves.
• Cow is the holiest animal in India and their slaughter is banned in
India. Cow is one of the most worshipped animal in India. And is
even more than a mother in sense that it fulfills all the needs of
her children.
• Monkey is believed as the form of god Hanuma the God of Power.
Ubud Monkey Forest and temple in Ubud Bali which is one of the
most tourist attraction in Bali and Swayambhunath in Nepal.

• Snake : the worship of serpent deities is present in several old
cultures. Lord Shiva wear Nag that is 'Indian Cobra' as an ornament
around his neck. Nag Panchami is the festival of snakes, they are
worshipped on this day.
• Elephant is vehicle of lord Indra and ;the
elephant headed god Ganesha' deity of success and education is
worshiped by Indian people. The great Indian Elephant is decorated
and worshipped in Kerala.
• Tiger : The Royal Bengal Tiger is the National animal of India . It is the
vehicle of 'Maa Durga'. And is worshiped by tribal people of
Sunderbans.
