French medical education is one of the longest programs ofstudy in French higher education institutions.
Medical education in France takes about 9 years. For
admission, you usually need to confirm your knowledge of the
French language (DELF) and pass a certificate competition.
Different medical programs in France will have
different tuition fees. The cost will largely depend on
whether you want to study at a public or private
University. As a prospective student, you should
expect that tuition fees at public universities will cost
around 450 euros per year. Private educational
institutions are much more expensive, the cost of
training is about 7,000 euros per year.
3.
Scholarships are designed specifically formedical students of both bachelor's and master's
degrees. Most often, they are awarded by
universities to the most talented and capable
students.

The First cycle (First cycle of medical research:PCEM "Premier Cycle d'études Medicales") lasts two
years. It is dedicated to the study of fundamental
disciplines, Humanities and social Sciences.
The first year of health training (PACES) is
common for medical, dental, pharmaceutical, and
midwifery (sometimes also kinesitherapy). It is divided
into two six-month periods. The first year can only be
repeated once. The assessment is considered final if

four weeks of mandatory and free nursing placement. It is
held during the holidays.
During the first cycle and the first year of the second
cycle (our 3rd course), future doctors study bacteriology,
Virology, Parasitology, basic Hematology, immunology,
Oncology, genetics and biology, pharmacology, epidemiology
and biostatistics, clinical and biological semiology, methods
of biological research, demography, health Economics and
organization of health systems. Foreign languages,
psychology, medical ethics and deontology are also studied.
6.
The second cycle (Second cycle of medical research: DCEM "DeuxièmeCycle des Etudes Médicales") lasts four years. To proceed to the third cycle,
fourth-year students must successfully complete the second cycle and pass the
theoretical course exams, approve all in-patient internships, and participate in
the required seminars. The national exam gives access to 11 specialties, the
choice of which is determined by the title received.
7.
The internship in General medicine lasts for three years and includes hospital care, as well as sixmonths of interaction with a medical practitioner. Residency (internship) in other specialties, it lasts from
four to five years, depending on the field.
DES programs can be followed by an additional specialized training program leading to
Diplôme d'études Spécialisées Complémentaires (DESC, Diploma in additional special studies)
after another twelve to eighteen months of study. DESC, combined with a short dissertation in
medicine, leads to the national state diploma of doctor of medical Sciences (MD).
8.
Applicants must pass a competitive selection process to enterthe internship program. Students can only participate in the
competition twice.
The Intern doctor performs rounds in the Department,
conducts outpatient appointments of patients, is constantly on
duty in the emergency Department, performs diagnostic and
therapeutic procedures.
At the end of the internship, the doctor passes exams and
receives a diploma of special education-a certificate of completion
of the internship. After receiving a diploma, a doctor can
continue their training in a narrower medical or biomedical
specialty.
