The Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Moscow State
Conservatory[2] is a higher musical educational
institution in Moscow, one of the leading music
universities in Russia and the world. The idea of
establishing a conservatory in Moscow was first
expressed in 1819 by Friedrich Scholz, the
conductor of the Bolshoi Theater, but the idea did
not find support. 11 years later, in 1830, he
managed to get permission to open "free teaching
of general bass and composition" at his home.
