World Laziness Day

1.

World Laziness Day
One day a year, you can afford to relax,
do nothing and not feel remorse about
it.

2.

When this holiday
appeared
In 1984, on August 20,
An unusual holiday was born in Colombia,
which found support in the hearts of millions
of people from different countries, becoming
worldwide, despite the lack of official status. It
is called the World Day of Laziness.

3.

The history of this holiday
The history of the holiday is connected with the fact that in
1984, during the annual festival of industry, trade and culture
held in the city of Itaguy in Colombia, the last day of the
festival was called the World Day of Laziness, urging
participants to forget about work, relax and devote this day to
themselves and their family, relaxing together, doing nothing.
*At first glance, laziness is one of the unpleasant
human vices. However, in the case of the holiday, the
organizers dubbed it so, of course, in jest. We are
talking about a completely natural human need for
rest.

4.

The history of this holiday
Itagui is one of the industrial centers where residents spent
most of their time at work. The idea of a new holiday was
accepted by everyone with great pleasure. Subsequently, the
holiday began to be celebrated in other countries, emphasizing
that no productive work is possible without a full rest.

Some Info about this holiday.
The World Day of Laziness is a holiday, although not official, but
already widely spread. He is celebrated in different countries, but
the largest events are held, of course, in his homeland — in
Colombia.
Every year, Colombians take out beds on the streets, hang
hammocks, change into pajamas and defiantly do nothing all day
— so that passers-by can see and take an example from them. The
motto of the holiday is "For the right to laziness", and do
Colombians actively — or passively? — it is defended. At least we
were lucky that the people who came up with the idea of this
holiday were not too lazy to write it down.
