The present report represents general data that were collected during sandwich-panels and rapidly erected buildings market research that
have been running within last three years.
The report is dedicated to panels market of the type “sandwich” and the market of BVZ with wall claddings out of sandwich-panels.

1.General characteristics of sandwich-panels
In contemporary construction the sandwich-panels means multilayer material which consists of three general functional layers: two layers of
covering materials to provide with the protection from outside impacts, constructive rigidness, decorative function, and filler core that carries
out the function of heat and noise insulator.
For the most types of sandwich-panels thermal insulation is the most important function, therefore the heat insulator core on the base of
poromeric material or slag wool is the basis of the majority.
The thickness of thermal insulating layer varies depending on the premise purpose and its location. For the construction panels the thickness
of insulant usually makes not less than 50 mm. They use thinner panels for inside plates and facing of existing premises.
1.1.General types of sandwich-panels
Depending on functional purpose of panels the materials both of the core and facing can be different. Let’s consider the general types of
sandwich-panels that find today application in construction on functional purpose and applied materials.
Panels for counters and other elements of interior to be produced on sandwich technology.

Element-by-element mounting of sandwich-panels is used, relatively, seldom. The technology main advantage is the possibility of sandwich layer
separation if it is necessary. Besides, it is mostly cheaper. However, the mounting time periods are being raised and then quality of all the spare parts and

1.2. Sandwich-panels of final factory-assembled
One can use construction sandwich-panels in erection of industrial, administrative and residential buildings. Rapidly erected buildings have gained the
special popularity in the following areas:
Industrial buildings (manufacture floors, hangers, warehouses, terminals, ports, dryers and so on);
Buildings and premises of administrative and household purpose (offices, shops, exhibition complexes, swing rooms);

Practically any low rise building can be constructed from sandwich-panels. Besides, panels are used as enclosure material of block-modules, blockcontainers, vans and trailers.
Using of sandwich-panels becomes more popular due to many advantages:
One of the most important advantages is rapid assembly (the speed of building erection can rise till 10 times in comparison with brick work),
construction process possibility in any weather conditions and quite easy disassembly as well;
The speed of construction goes down and due to the lack of possibility erection of complicated foundation, i.e. forces on the footing go down for
100 times and more. It means that one can withdraw from not to hold geological ground survey, quietly lower expenses and time on foundation
construction, erected usual strip foundation and moreover, practically withdraw from even it;
Sandwich-panel buildings don’t require external and often internal finish (as they are covered by special anticorrosion and hygienic layer that
not only protects a panel but decorates it);
Sandwich-panel construction cut down on the transportation of building materials expenses: it is simpler to transport easy and resistant
sandwich-panels than tons of brick, concrete, sand, metal concrete plates or even building lumber;

external panel itself);
Panels are self-supporting ones and are not able to take adding impact on themselves;
Qualified assembly is necessary.
1.3. Classification of sandwich-panels
1.3.1. Functional purpose
According to functional purpose one can divide sandwich-panels into four main types: wall, roof coating, facing and frost-storage.
Each of these types has its own constructive specialties.
Facing panels provide for reconstruction and heat insulation pf the current buildings. As a rule, they have not large thickness 25-60mm. Back surface
doesn’t have decorative coating. Inside the building facing panels play the role of decorative coating, heat insulant and noise insulant.
Today in Russia there is a good situation for the market development of facing sandwich-panels: many buildings need reconstruction or heat
insulation according to the new requirements to transference of heat. Meanwhile “wet processes” apply wider. However, popularity of facing panels
and appearance of new regional manufacturers (that lowers expenses, i.e. final price) help rapid grow of the market.

There are some more famous manufacturers in the market who need to be noticed and work in this segment. The company “Polyalpan” with samename system has been working since 1990. At the present time some plants manufacture panels on this technology. The company “Izol” offers
solutions for ventilated facades.
Frost-storage panels differ with good heat-keeping features. Double lock is always used as a connection to exclude a possibility of appearance of
“cold bridges”. PU foam is usually used as a heat insulant.
Wall and roof sandwich-panels are applied for construction of walls and roof coating. Their main difference is proper thickness and resistant
internal coating.
1.3.2. Heat insulating material
One can divide contemporary sandwich-panels into three general groups according to the type of heat insulating material:
With mineral wool insulant ;
With PU foam insulant;
With polystyrene foam insulant.
Polystyrene foam is easy synthetic material with closed structure, it has quite low conductivity factor ~0.039 W/m*K and is the easiest one among
insulants that are used at the present time. It is ecologically pure and takes fully to processing. It is nonhygroscopic. Contemporary polystyrenes can
be low-combustible materials (group G1). Among disadvantages there are quite low mechanical characteristics, it is chemically nonsteady and has
low temperature of destruction (within -65…-70 degrees it becomes simple polystyrol).
PU foam has the best characteristics on heat keeping (conductivity factor ~ 0.022 W/m*K). It is heavier than polystyrene foam and it’s easier than
mineral wool. Its disadvantage is flammability, and besides with polyuria finishing. This fact puts limits on panels use on the ground of PU foam.

Mineral wool satisfies the strongest requirements of fire safety. It is cooperates with sanitary and ecological regulations, including regulations of
residential construction. Also mineral wool is nonhygroscopic, firm to chemical and ecological impacts, it is characterized with high resistance and
long aging (50 years is a “guarantee period” of mineral wool. Its disadvantage is quite high conductivity factor ~0.05 W/m*K.
Nowadays in Russia the panels with mineral wool core are the most actual.
The panels manufacture process with mineral wool filling is the following: wool moves to manufacture either in plate that it is necessary to cut on
laminas, or at once in laminas. Then the laminas are profiled and put on the metal sheets to locate wool fibers perpendicularly to coating. An
adhesive is covered and another one metal sheet is lapped. The panel is pressed and heated. It is left to cut plate and form knit lines.
The main significance as a final panel the mineral wool quality plays, therefore manufacturers try to choose a worthy partner. At the present time in

There are two general types of polystyrene foam (foam plastic), i.e. PAB-S (block) an APPS (extrusion and extruding). They add antiperene in
polystyrene foam compound (not more than 3%) that allows giving non flammability to it.
They obtain block polystyrene foam while foaming of finish compound in press-form. Then finish material is cut into blocks.
Manufacture of extruding polystyrene foam is more time-consuming one. They obtain it by pressing compound through a special slot in the process
of which foaming goes on.
In spite of these materials belong to the same class they have different characteristics. For example, on heat insulation characteristics extruding
polystyrene foam exceeds PAB-S for 20-40%, water absorption of PAB-S makes 2% on volume, and for APPS this rate makes less than 0.2%.

APPS is more popular in the worldwide practice. In most cases PAB-S is used by Russian manufacturers, it is explained by its lower price (in
comparison with APPS in 3-4 times).
In Russia there are very little enterprises that manufacture extruding polystyrene foam. For example, “Penoplex Holding” www.penoplex.ru,
manufactures extrusion polystyrene foam under “Penoplex” trademark. Besides, it is announcing on the company site that it is an exclusive
manufacturer of the material on the territory of Russia.

the help of Freon or pentane, which is more ecological one).

1.3.3. Facing
There are possible types of facing:

cold rolled steel HDG with polymeric coating;
steel, coated with granite chip;
composite polymeric materials (for internal membranes, cold storage chambers).

The important factor is also the difference within metal sheet coating. Polymer coating protects steel and provides building with good outside
look. The most applied coatings at the present time are the following:
Polyester is quite non-expensive traditional coating for roofs and walls with glace surface, it is suitable for all the climate zones. It has a good
level of flexibility, but not high resistance to mechanical impacts.
Plastisol is quite thick coating, it has embossed surface. The ground of coating is PVC. It is expensive coating, but it is the most resistant one
to mechanical and climate impacts.
Pural is the coating on the ground of PU foam. It has high resistance to mechanical and chemical damages, temperature changes. Also it has
low resistance to plastic deformation.
PVF2 is a material on the ground of polyvinyl fluoride. It is more resistant to ultraviolet light, it practically doesn’t fade. It is resistant to
aggressive areas. It is more expensive.

1.4. Sandwich-panel competitors
In general approach practically any construction materials are considered as sandwich-panels competitors: foam concrete, brick, wood. However, the
main advantage of sandwich-panels. is their rapidness and easiness of assembly, possibility of construction an any time of the year and in any
conditions, rapid entry into exploitation. Traditional materials don’t have such characteristics; therefore the straight competition can’t exist between
them.
The closer competitors of sandwich-panels are collecting panels with the using of carcass and profiled sheet with insulant.
Collecting sandwich-panels with the using of carcass represent intermediate development from layer assembly (e.g., profiled sheet with insulant) up
to three-layer sandwich-panels.
The advantages of the system profiled sheet-insulant-profiled sheet in comparison with sandwich-panels:

The advantages of cassette systems with insulant in comparison with sandwich-panels:
Can be used for insulation of the present buildings, for which external appearance is important,
Lesser possibility to damage during the assembling process,
It is easier to replace spoilt element.
Disadvantages:
The price is comparable with sandwich-panels
Cassette profile itself on its exploitation characteristics is similar with profiled sheet.
Advantages of traditional wall materials¹ in comparison with sandwich-panels:
Exploitation time period,
Repair ability,
Recognizability by the market,
Electromagnetic permeation,
Application reasonability in residential construction,
Don’t require metal construction (water-filled systems require reinforcement steel, i.e. internal force).

2. The market of sandwich-panels in Russia
2.1. Market review
Alongside with actuality in some foreign countries (Finland, Germany, Austria, Poland and others) sandwich-panels have been obtaining more
popularity amongst construction materials in Russia.
For the last years in our country dozens of sandwich-panel manufacturers have appeared; and every year the companies’ number has been growing.
Also back process of some manufacturers going out from the market that couldn’t stay in competitive struggle is present. Meanwhile, the number of
new companies is more than going out from the market companies.
The market of sandwich-panels is rather closed. There is no practically actual information about of market players. That’s why the estimates of
market volumes and sale have expert character.
In 2022 Russian market capacity on real volumes of consuming made more than 6 million m². Import in this volume made about 10% (more detailed
of import and export see Annex 4).
Such numbers cause lots of questions. Firstly, in sizes of Russia the volumes of consuming seem very little. Only in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg
annually dozens of buildings on sandwich-panel technology are constructed: trade centers, warehouses, production premises, office buildings,
recreational premises. There is also active construction in regions: all the latest years are characterized with large construction of trade, warehouse,
industrial premises, not speaking of many little projects: auto saloons, service units, shops and so on. If one count total areas of large objects then
you will be able to obtain the figure that will exceed annual volumes of sandwich-panels market.
Of course, the explanation can be hidden on irregularity sale, i.e. Moscow and Saint-Petersburg use, in general, finish sandwich-panels. It is more
reliable, suitable, but it’s more expensive. The objects in regions can be constructed not out of finish sandwich-panels but out of “assembled” ones.

most Russian manufacturers confirm today unutilized capacity problem.
High total potential of industrial capacity establishes two important tendencies. Firstly, large metropolitan manufacturers’ ambition is to
conquer regional markets and the regional ones is to appear on the metropolitan. Companies constantly are taking part in tenders, creating
dealer networks, and arranging partners’ relationships (with manufacturers of panels production (vans, swing rooms, modules, fridges), with
constructors, assemblers, architectures). On the second hand, practically all successful manufacturers (from the point of view of manufacture
volumes and products realization) carry out marketing policy in the direction of spread services for the consumer.
For nobody is the secret that the differences between panels of different manufacturers conclude in general, in variety of nomenclature, in
quality of spare parts, in solution of knit lines, in accessories, in elaborated requirements on manufacture works. Import factor is closeness of

Many manufacturers suggest engineering of objects (approximately 2/3 of total number of manufacturers) or at least, albums of section finish typical
solutions.
In case when object engineering is carried out by panel manufacturer, as a rule he carries out cutting panels according the project. In this case the
object is completed from one hand with fixing elements and other “accessories”. Besides, approximately every third manufacturer is ready to provide
object completion with necessary metal carcass. Thus, within a stage of assemble many advantages appear: full plant finish of all the elements, that
on place all that is lacking to assemble according to the project.it is rather easy. However, a half of manufacturers is ready to provide a customer with
assemble constructions (and chief assemble approximately ¾ of total number of manufacturers).
The product price is quite dependent on said above factors and also on insulant quality and facing materials. Besides, quite essential factors that
influence the price both are delivery volume and complexity (including architectural) of an object, because panels cutting for the object carries out as
a rule in plant conditions.
That’s why one can compare a cost of square meters of panels and building on theirs ground quite approximately (see part 4 “Price policy”).
In comparison with 2021 in 2022 sandwich panel prices have increased on the average for 10-15% and according to the manufacturers estimate it
was connected with price increase for metal and other spare parts and service as well.
In 2021-2022 some new foreign players appeared on the market (e.g. Turkish ParkPanel and Italian company “Metecno”). However, they have very
little part of the market and it anyhow doesn’t influence its creation and development.
In 2022 the volume of sandwich panels’ Russian market (on real volumes of consuming, official statics) made ~ 7.5 million m². Import in this volume
made less than 10%. Average price for 1 m² of sandwich panels in Russia in 2022 made 1000 rubles. As due to results of 2020 the data on volumes of
sandwich panels consuming in 2021 seem diminished.
According to the data received as a result of expert interview and analysis of the current capacity of general plants the volume of sandwich panel
Russian market exceeded 15.5 million m² a year and sales made 450 million dollars.

The market of sandwich panels continues to grow steadily and constantly for ~ 20% a year. The prices in 2013 have risen in average for 15%.
The further grow of the market of sandwich panels is expected ~ for 15-20% annually. The market grow will provide growing interest to rapidly
erected constructions and also federal programs accomplishment.
In 2015 according to estimates the manufacture of sandwich panels should make 18-22 million m².
The shortage is not expected on the market, the offer will meet the sale, as native manufacturers will easily increase the manufacture level.
2.2. Market participants
Hundreds companies work on the Russian market. They can be divided into the following segments:
Manufacturers. Nowadays the number of manufacturers is approaching to the hundred. Among them there are both large plants with annual
issues close to million m² and small local companies that manufacture less than 100000 m² panels a year. Local manufacturer nowadays exists
practically in every region of Russia. The maximum number of manufacturers locate in European part of Russia, in Ural and Western Siberia as
well. One can notice geographic orientation of manufacturers, i.e. companies of central part do not deliver (almost without exception) panels
behind Ural, and Siberian manufacturers rarely construct objects in the center. The reason of it is simple: large directions strongly increase the
price of product and it becomes non-competitive. With increase of manufacturers number and development of technologies the location of
market will only be stronger. It is supposed, that within next 3-5 years the manufacturers won’t go behind the borders of their region, i.e. all
their production will provide needs of close located territories. The process of market split-off is noticed already now: even large plants have
difficulties within obtaining order for panels delivery to detached object. Most of all productions locate in Moscow and Leningradsky regions.
It is explained by location of general customers in these regions.

Traders. One can divide traders into three general types of companies: companies that resell panels; the manufacturers of other profile that
sell panels with other products (e.g., a company can produce metal constructions and sell panels, providing full completion of customer
object); construction companies (usually these are the companies that are specialized on BVZ or object erection “turn-key ready”. Trader
activity is oriented on the end user, as wholesalers and large customers prefer to work directly with plants. It is interesting that to experts
mind, till 50% of companies to be called themselves manufacturers, really they are traders. Serious customers know it ask to show them
manufacture (really go there and show the organization) until the concluding the contract.
Constructors. This segment is the largest one. It is quite reasonable. Here one can include both manufacture and construction companies,
and construction and assembly organizations. In segment VSK strong crossing with manufactures segment is present (approximately a half of
manufacturers are ready to provide construction). There is an interesting fact of construction companies appearing on the market that are
specialized in BVZ, e.g. the company “Mosgroup” (www.mosgroup.ru), the supplier of panels is LLC “Plastmetal”), “MBH Technology” (www.
biznes-hat.ru, sells their finish solutions), PSP “DanichGroup” (www.danichgroup.ru), “StalKomplect” (www.stalk.biz) and others.
Designers of solutions and production. This group of companies is designated into separate category in connection of its number and
actuality among customers. Here there are the companies that work out cold warehouses, vans and containers, the producers of swing
rooms, modules, typical objects). Of course, the companies, which work in these fields, can manufacture spare parts themselves. However,
they often work only on assembly and buying necessary material. To some experts mind, following situation is possible, when large
companies that use sandwich panels in their activity, start manufacturing them themselves. It can happen in connection with go- to – market
price (a technology is worked out, low-cost machinery appeares, special qualification of workers is unnecessary and so on).

All the existing companies can be divided on manufacture volumes into large, middle-sized and small. There are not so many large companies in
Russia (with potentially high production capacity, good indexes). They locate in Moscow, Saint- Petersburg and their suburbs. All these
companies exist quite a while, have a good reputation, completed large projects, carry out active marketing policy, take part in tenders. As a
rule, their production is marketed as “qualified, long-life, prestigious”. It is located in average price range. It is simpler for such companies to
work on supply quite large objects: facility opportunities allow rapidly manufacturing necessary quantity of panels. Companies fix extra charge
on small buying volume and prolong manufacture time periods.
One can refer large part of regional and metropolitan companies to middle-sized. Having less production line they more flexibly react to
customers requests, carry out not large orders, suggest different bonuses, and i.e. can represent individual service. Such form of cooperation is
suitable within small volumes order (especially it is actual in regions). Therefore, manufacturer can obtain many orders, each of which is small in
money, but in amount, it often succeeds large project income.
Small companies having machinery of small capacity are ready to produce quite small volumes order. Small capacity machinery on sandwich
panels manufacture sometimes start-up on other profile enterprises to meet personal needs.
Russian manufacturers offer low and middle- price products. Moreover, they manufacture products using the same machinery with difference
only in insulant, steel quality, coating, dimensions and so on. Sandwich panels of these price groups meet Russian domestic demand and they
are delivered to the nearest CIS countries.
In 2022 Russian companies appeared also in premium segment, where earlier only European and joint companies had worked (NordProfil
(www.nordprofil.ru), Paroc (www.paroc.ru/channels/ru), Rannila (www.rannila.ru) and others). It is connected with segment growth in projects
realization of elite buildings construction with sandwich panels using.
The most part of issued panels in Russia have mineral wool core. Products percentage with PU foam or Polystyrene foam makes only about 30%.
In other world, the situation is back-sided. The percentage of mineral wool usually makes 10%.

In spite of constructive similarity of issued products the manufactures try to position themselves with orientation on their general customer. For
ones it is construction filed, and thereafter “constructive panels” are manufactured, for the others the producers of fridges are, which need “cold
storage panels”.
The companies that manufacture cold storage panels often have finish solutions of cold storage warehouses construction, and sometimes are ready
to carry out turn-key ready” project, as they have contacts with all the necessary machinery manufacturers.
Local markets development is one of important tendencies. Significant role here price factor plays; among Russian manufacturers price difference
for similar products is little and therefore, plants that are located not far from construction objects are in best conditions. They have an opportunity
to suggest a competitive price for account of transport expenses limit (according to estimate, in delivery of material for 500 km its cost increases for
15-30%). Many experts consider that in the nearest future, the influence of regional manufacturers will rise and they “close” principal needs of their
regions.
2.3. Price policy
The general factors that influence sandwich panels price are the following:
Type of heat insulant;
Panel thickness (depends on thickness of heat insulant layer);
Material, quality and manufacturer of coating;
Type, manufacturer and quality of adhesive;
Machinery specialties and opportunities.
Construction market specialty with use sandwich panels is in its dependence on metal manufacturers that applies in coatings and insulants. Price
movement on these markets can’t reflect sandwich panels price.
If one considers panels appreciation in dependence on insulant thickness then the situation will be approximately the following:

For mineral wool panels the price while enhancing thickness for 10 mm increases at the average for 3-4%;
Panels with polystyrene foam insulant while insulant enhancing for 10 mm become more expensive at the average for 2-3 %;
Panels with PU foam insulant usually are produced with insulant thickness with 20mm step. The price increases within every step for 1114%.
In dependence on type of used elements, one can signify the following segments:
Premium-class (on different estimate occupies from 5 to 15% market; panels price is 2000 RUR/m²; in the segment basically, import
products are presented, it is because of high expenses for logistics and native products that are produced on foreign technologies or out of
import spare parts);
Average-priced, business class (panels price is 1400-2000 RUR/m²);
Economy class (panels price is 700-1400 m²).
The most part of large manufacturers sell panels packed in protection film and load them on customer transport, not taking extra pay for it.
There are companies, for which transport protective film of panels is extra pay. The cost of service is 15 – 30 RUR/m² of surface.
All the manufacturers have their discounts and bonuses system depending on order volume. Discounts are suggested for large orders. For every
company “large” order is its own volume. For ones it is 500 m² (such companies are the majority), for others it is 1500 m², for third group it is
4000 m². Simultaneously, small order is taxed extra pay; and again for every company “minimal volume is its own one”: somebody don’t take to
manufacture less than 500 m² and enters extra pay for volumes close to it, others can manufacture with 10-20% extra pay and less than 50 m².
Finishing and packed elements to be necessary for construction are purchased separately in accordance with the project. Their cost depends on
quantity, material, complexity, configuration and makes on average 170-350 RUR /m² of a wall.
Several companies are able to deliver panels for an object by free of charge. Usually it is an “extra discount” within large orders volume, or it is a
bonus to be presented by the manufacturer in a case, if he is the object constructor as well.

Practically any manufacturer suggests services assembly or chief-assembly their panels and while ordering service the contract value increases for 1030%.
Considering individual needs of developers (panels of different colours, thickness, dimensions and so on), the manufacturers practically do not make
products inventory. Therefore, the cases when one can come and take his order from warehouse, are rare. As a rule, after concluding a contract and
paying in advance in amount of 60-100%, the order is shipped to manufacture. Production time depends on equipment resources and can make from
5 days till some months.
2. 4. Sale
The most part of sandwich panels are sold from production plant. Considering individual needs of constructors (panels of different colours, thickness,
dimensions and so on), the producers practically do not make products inventory. Therefore, the cases when one can come and take his order from
warehouse, are rare. As a rule, after concluding a contract and paying in advance in amount of 60-100%, the order is shipped to manufacture.
Production time depends on equipment resources and can make from 2-5 days till some months. For developers such delays can be non-critical,
because at this time the foundation and building carcass assembly works can be carried out.
Less significant part of the market belongs to traders, which are relatively divided into three groups: companies that resell panels; manufacturers of
other profile, that sell panels among other goods as well (e.g. company can manufacture metal constructions and sell panels providing complete
object of the customer); construction companies (usually those that are specialized on rapidly erected buildings or erect “turn-key projects”). Trader
activity is oriented on end user, as wholesalers and large customers prefer working with a plant directly.
The general part of consuming sandwich panels refers to manufacture construction and construction assembling organizations. The separate group
represent companies that work out solutions and products. Here the organizations relate to that produce cold storage warehouses, vans and
containers, manufacturers of swing rooms, modules, typical objects and so on. Of course, the companies working in these directions can manufacture
spare parts themselves. However, they often work only on assembly buying necessary materials.

To some experts mind, there is a possible situation when large construction companies using in their spheres sandwich panels will produce them
themselves. It will be able to happen due to price lowering of go-to-market (price lowering of semi-automated and automated machinery). For the
present moment semi-automated line price with capacity 5-6 thousand m² /month makes approximately 6-12 million rubles; the similar automated
straight-line price makes not less than 30-40 million rubles. The experts estimate go-to-market cost approximately, in 50-200 million rubles.
2.5. Interesting analysis, successful solutions, marketing
2.5.1. Traditional marketing
Every company on the sandwich panels market has to position itself on the market. In the most fortunate position, there are companies that have
appeared long ago and yielded to the reputation. In more complicated situation there are new companies, as they have to regain their orders.
There are general means of promotion on the contemporary market of sandwich panels.
Practically all the players use means of traditional advertisement: in newspapers and journals, on the radio, external advertisement, and printing.
Besides them, there are other ways to attract customers’ attention. For large companies it is undoubtedly, their name and portfolio. Machinery
possibilities (on volume, universality) are also applied in filtering from competitors.
Successful manufacturers pursue a marketing policy in the direction of widening services for a customer.
Some companies take part in exhibitions, forums, fairs and competitions.
Interesting direction is a work with the press. There are plants the name of which often is reminded in printing; or the management of which act as
experts in most thematic materials.
Large companies are ready to present information materials, catalogues, engineering and technical documentation, engineering solutions,
recommendations and so on to potential customers.

Many companies make calculation of building sandwich panels by free of charge or help choosing completed project from their database.
In addition, company’s ability is important: how rapidly and according to the rules it is able to calculate total amount of all the order and help with
delivery. Some organizations own their car park and are ready to deliver obtained products within definite distance by free of charge. Others
present discounts for the delivery (either with the help of their own or ordered transport) from estimated order volume. Practically all of them
make loading.
In spite of the dimensions or colour modifications are in technology, it is described by manufacturers as additional advantage: “individual
approach”, “individual dimensions”, “manufacture order”.
Small companies suggest working with customers material.
All the manufacturers offer discounts depending on order volume. Simultaneously, all the companies have a definition of minimal order and many
ones have a definition of “extra charge on small order”.
Very few companies are ready to suggest carrying out an order “today for today”. It is connected with the fact that warehouse inventory does not
practically exist on the sandwich panels market. It is simply explained : every client needs “his products”, i.e. according to thickness, dimensions,
colour and exterior design. Besides, for the most orders in plant terms they cut panels in accordance with the project. Therefore, arrange of large
quantity of warehouse inventory is often unreasonable. Excluding makes companies with arranged sale policy and constant customers.
Manufacturers suggest special terms for assembling and construction organizations, producers of metal constructions, easy metal constructions
and other units with using of sandwich panels, roof covering centers, architectures, engineers, constant customers and wholesale clients.
Some companies are ready to sell their products on credit or with instalment payment. Usual payment scheme is advance payment more than 50%
from order total amount and remaining payment is made in shipping.
Interesting service is urgent producing, producing by indicated period.
Many manufacturers represent warranty for their products and for the works (if they carry out them themselves). Post- warranty service is
possible.

Small companies as their competitive advantage, mark an opportunity to manufacture small sandwich panel lots (until 50 m²) without price increase
and time of manufacture.
2.5.2. Marketing at Internet
In addition to traditional means to attract customers, the most players of sandwich panels market actively use Internet for promotion their products.
There are some reasons for this fact:
The panels market is young, and therefore it is usual for its players to use net opportunities;
The “construction” topic acquired wide distribution at Internet, for which panels manufacture works;
Search of construction materials through Internet is customary business for users;
Network allows easily separating out of competitors, showing their possibilities, pursue necessary policy;
Internet allows comparing companies opportunities to potential customers, comparing their prices and terms and conditions, and it is very
effective in terms of large number of players.
Now the most companies of the market have their own web-representative offices. Their quality and accordingly, interest of users to them is
different: checking out websites can be changed from some users up to some dozens of site population a day. There are no sites with big population.
Firstly, it is connected with big role of regional companies (low centralization) and lack of bright leaders. Frankly speaking, in the current performance
the most companies look like equal on the market.
Of course, websites of large plants, companies that offer complex service, and regional leaders have bigger traffic ranking than others have, but it is
not significant as there is on other markets. Average checking out a site makes about 50 hosts a day. In cases, this rate makes 100 and more hosts.
General traffic refers to working time from 9 to 18 hours. In spite of one can build objects from sandwich panels through the whole year, the sale on
the considered market depends on season: at warm season buyers activity quietly raises. One can explain it by traditions (the end of spring, summer
and the beginning of autumn in Russia is the high time for construction).

It is easy to see that the biggest interest of users is concentrated on the questions of manufacture, choice and purchase (manufacturers, prices),
assembly (construction) sandwich panels.
Small part of requests is devoted to characteristics and properties pf panels and it shows the fact, that potential purchaser knows good enough
about all the specialties of panels.
One cannot but notice high quantity of requests to be devoted to PVC panels (it is connected with high levels of market growth of plastic windows

The biggest interest to Russian sandwich panels have users from Kazakhstan (a level of interest with the topic by Kazakhstan users is two times

3. Machinery, go-to-market price
3.1. General characteristics
Today the choice of native and import equipment for sandwich-panels manufacture is quite wide.
There are some ways of sandwich-panels manufacture:
Automatic lines (straight-line, roundabout system)
Machinery of “stand type”
Hand assembling
Filler foaming between two facing sheets (only with polyurethane core)
To manufacture panels on automatic line it is enough to give all the necessary components and get the final product in some time. Such machinery
is the most contemporary and the most expensive one. It allows producing large volume of goods constantly of high quality. Fully automatic lines
work only in the plants of large Russian manufacturers.
The smaller companies prefer using machinery of “stand type”. Here the manufacturing process is automated as well, but it is divided into several
stages on time and place.
Only the small companies apply hand assembling. It is considered, that it is impossible to provide constantly high quality of final production when a
man plays a big role in the manufacturing process (there can be mistakes in adhesive dose, in insulant setting, in locks and so on). Besides, in this
case a company has low production.
PU foaming between facings can be done on either fully automated or “stand” machinery. Hand assembling for PU foam insulant isn’t practically
applied, as these panels are quietly expensive and used in limited industries (cold-storage warehouses, containers, trucks).

Excluding a way that provides PU foaming between two facing sheets, adhesive layer joins the panel components together. The long aging directly
depends on the quality of this layer and therefore manufacturers pay special attention to it. The part of manufacturers use adhesive of their own
production (the technology of production is not disclosed) and the others buy final composition. Among often used “Ltd. (Great Britain), Huntsman
(The Netherlands) and others.
The machinery specialties can dictate adhesive type. For example, more “speedy” adhesive types are used.
The quality of panels to be got on automatic and semi-automatic lines while following the technology is equal. However, the companies try to use
their own type of machinery as adding competitive advantage. One companies confirm that only hand assembling allows providing necessary quality,
the others notice their technologies modernity.
Today some basic machinery trademarks to be used specially for manufacture of sandwich-panels construction are represented on the Russian
market. Among them, there are the following companies that are more famous: “Hilleng” (Australia), “Isowall” (Great Britain), “ll-Kwang” (Korea),
“PUMA” (Italy), “Budimpeks” (Poland). One can notice the presence of native manufacturers on the market, e.g. “Az-Kom” or “Plastmetall”.
All the lines differ from each other with the organization of technological cycle and price. The cheapest lines are “semi-automatic” ones that
combines elements of automatic and handing manufacture. For example, “Forward” company offers the machinery of stand type, i.e. a core
manufactured from slag wool and polystyrene foam. It costs three million RUR; time of manufacture is two months.
The machinery of non-stop type (it is called conveyor as well) is universal. It is necessary to give initial materials on the input, and one can obtain a
panel during the output.
Such lines characterized by the following:
High production;
Possibility of using fillers and facing of different types;
Wide scope of dimensions of issued panels;

Possibility of panels issue with different types of wall and roof joint;
Low labor costs (some workers are quite enough).
Remarkable number of participants of panels’ Russian market exploit lines by Australian company “Hilleng”, the Russian representative of which is
“Silver Dale” company. Contemporary lines of latest generation “Hilleng Z-Lock” the following large players of the market use: “Ventall”,
“Petropanel”, “Electroschit”, “Stroyconstruction”, “Izobud”, “Kuznetsky ZLMK”, “Belgorodsky ZNOiM” and others.
Such lines are able to provide not less 1000 m of panels per a shift. The length is limited with 13 m, panels’ thickness is 50-250 mm, and wideness
depends on the lock type and makes 900-1200 mm. More often, the lines are used for manufacture panels with mineral wool insulant, polystyrene
foam and PU foam insulants are quite rarely used.
The lines main differences are the following: maximum production, set of adding operations, easiness of facility reorientation (another insulant,
another type of panel, dimensions) and of course, price (not less than 1 million dollars).
3.2. Go-to-market price
It is worth noticing that the machinery for sandwich-panels manufacture with slag wool or foam plastic filler are most widely used and cheap. The
native manufacturers work in this segment. The lines for manufacture panels with PU filler are more expensive, and as a rule, they are by import
manufacture.
Organization manufacture sandwich-panels costs vary from six up to some hundred million rubles. It depends on the segment in which the
company would like to appear.
Assembling off drum, introduction device with rolling legs, profile machine, hand and worm press and a table for cutting. The price of such set is
about 1,5 million rubles. The set with more expensive guide assembling and profile cutter will be cost about 2-3 million rubles.

Semi-automatic plants with production 2500-6000 m²/month in the conditions of one shift (some suppliers state even 8000 m²/month or 4000
m²/shift) are the most popular decision. The price of such set is 6-12 million rubles. Minimal requirements that are necessary for manufacture startup are premises from 300 m² and worker from 4 persons. The line arrangement takes 2-4 weeks. The theoretical payout period is about 1 year.
The automatic line costs higher. Usually a manufacturer announces only approximate “base” cost. The customer chooses final set of machinery
depending on his wishes and requirements. In this case the price changes and sometimes quite remarkably. As a rule, investments cost about 100
million rubles.
For example, investment for start-up new line of JSC “VZL” made 5 million euro (3 million euro for buying new line machinery and 2 million euro for
building premises with the area of 5 000 m²). The initial capacity made40-60000 m²/month. The full capacity made 2.5 million m²/year. Theoretically,
payout period of the project is 1.5-2 years.
Sandwich-panels go-to-market in the segment of premium-class according to the experts’ value requires 20 million dollars (or about 580 million
rubles).

lines “sandwich” with mineral wool or polystyrene insulants.
