Toyota Mark 2 was born in 1968 as a modification of the popular model "crown". Until the fifth generation, it even had the
name Toyota Corona Mark 2. Over the years, everyone began to distinguish the "Mark 2" and the prefix "crown" is a thing of

VVT-i is Toyota's proprietary gas distribution system. From the English Variable Valve
Timing with intelligence, which means intelligent change of valve timing phases. This is
the second generation of Toyota's valve timing system. It has been installed on cars

In 1996, the Japanese updated the engine, so the 1JZ-GTE vvti appeared. In addition to the fact that the
turbo engine received a system that changes the timing phases, the twin turbo is a thing of the past. The
Japanese, instead of two parallel turbines, began to install one, but a larger turbine — CT15B.

In addition to the changes affecting the boost system, the updated engine received a higher compression
ratio. If on engines with two turbines it was 8.5:1, then the single-turbine 1JZ-GTE has a compression
ratio increased to 9.0:1. The increased compression ratio allowed to increase the torque to 379 NM and
make the power plant 10% more economical. Quite high compression, as for a turbocharged engine,
places high demands on the quality of gasoline. The 1JZ-GTE engine is recommended to be powered
with gasoline with an octane rating of at least 95, and given the unsatisfactory quality of our fuel, to avoid
the risk of detonation, it is better to pour 98 gasoline.

Gearboxes and their capabilities
There are two boxes to choose from — a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual. The
automatic transmission is very fast, sensitive, quickly switches to low gears. There are no

create a powerful and economical engine, Toyota set itself the task of developing a
new series of engines, which became the collection as "JZ".
The development of the 1JZ-GTE engine began in 1984. The main goal was to
creating a turbocharged engine that would be increased, but at the same time efficient
in fuel consumption. Toyota engineers sought to achieve maximum power while
maintaining reliability and vulnerability.
One of the features of the 1JZ-GTE engine is its design with a six-cylinder V-shaped
arrangement. The engine capacity is 2.5 liters. Engineers used aluminum blocks and
cylinder heads to reduce weight and improve heat dissipation.
