Dmitry Ivanovich
Mendeleyev was born on
February 8, 1834, in Tobolsk
in a family of the director of
a gymnasium. After the
termination of the Tobolsk
gymnasium it was accepted
on office of natural sciences
of physical and
mathematical faculty of the
Main teacher training
college in St. Petersburg.

Needing financially, Mendeleyev
gave lessons, was engaged in
literary work. In 1855 I
graduated from institute with a
gold medal, but because of the
upset health it was compelled to
go to the south the teacher of a
gymnasium at Rishelyevsky
lyceum. Having recovered,
Mendeleyev in 1856 defended
the master dissertation in St.
Petersburg and began to give a
course of organic chemistry at
the Petersburg university.
