• Voronezh State University and the University of
Tartu share common roots
• The direct ancestor of VSU is a Yuriev (Derpt)
University.
• In 1918 because of German occupation in Estonia
the University staff and students moved from Yuriev
(currently Tartu) to Voronezh.

• VSU has 33 teams in 25 kinds of sport (over 700 students in
total).
• VSU has groups and clubs in shaping, rock climbing,
tourism, aikido, wushu, taekwondo, and lawn tennis, etc.

The students of VSU traditionally take
part in the following events:
•the Initiation Ceremony held in
autumn by all 18 Faculties;
•the "First-year Student" annual
festival – a competition between
faculties, where new students show
their talents;
•the "Students' Spring" annual festival
– a competition between faculties, in
which any VSU student can take part.

«Theatre of Equals»
It is a unique project, that unites both able-bodied and
disabled amateur actors. The project has helped young actors
to learn new skills and develop their talent in acting.

VSU is engaged in active collaboration with foreign and
international organizations, funds, and programmes
Since 2013, VSU has been implementing 9 international projects,
including:
•5 TEMPUS projects,
•2 projects of the Seventh Framework Programme of the European
Union
•the projects of the British Council,
•SCOPES (Scientific Cooperation between Eastern Europe and
Switzerland) programmes.
