Abstract
E ndotracheal intubation is a critical procedure in emergency medicine and anesthesia,
requiring a high level of skill and precision.
Traditional training methods often rely on practice on live patients or cadavers, which can
be ethically problematic, limited in availability, and challenging in providing realistic
scenarios
This paper presents the development of an interactive simulator for training medical
students in endotracheal intubation. The simulator aims to provide a safe, repeatable,
and realistic training environment.
The simulator aims to provide a safe, repeatable, and realistic training environment. This
paper will detail the simulator's functionality, the technologies employed in its
development, and preliminary findings regarding the effectiveness of the simulator as a
training tool.

Introduction
Endotracheal intubation (ETI)
is a life-saving procedure used to secure a patient's airway
during respiratory distress, surgery, or other medical
emergencies. The procedure involves inserting a tube through
the mouth or nose into the trachea to provide mechanical
ventilation.
Interactive simulators offer a promising alternative for E TI
training. Simulators provide a safe, repeatable, and realistic
environment for trainees to practice and develop their skills
without risking patient harm.

Functionality of the Intubation
Simulator
Realistic
Anatomical Model
The simulator incorporates a
high-fidelity anatomical model
of the upper airway, including
the oral cavity, pharynx,
larynx, and trachea. The
model is constructed from
realistic materials that mimic
the tactile feel and resistance
of human tissues.
Force Feedback
The simulator incorporates
force feedback technology to
simulate the resistance and
feel of tissues during
intubation. This provides
trainees with haptic cues that
help them to develop proper
technique and avoid causing
trauma to the airway.
Performance
Feedback
The simulator automatically
tracks and records trainee
performance metrics, such as
time to intubation, number of
attempts, and complications
encountered. This feedback is
used to provide trainees with
personalized instruction and
guidance.
