2. Topic of the thesis

• AMF has shown to improve the sensitivity of molecular MSOT
imaging in a number of applications such as cell imaging
• However its applications is not robust in cases
– where the target occupies a large area in the image
– where the spectrum of the target agent is significantly corrupted by light
fluence
• This thesis will be devoted in studying the performance of AMF
under such challenging conditions and developing solutions for
mitigating such effects and ensuring global robust performance.

• The effect of sensitiivty decrease
due to the corruption of the
target spectrum is studied
• While this effect is minimum
when agents with sharp
spectrum are considered (e.g.
ICG), spectral corruption can be
important when agents such as
ink are utilized.

4. Preliminary Result 2: Study of the effects of performance contamination due to targets occupying large areas

The effect of sensitiivty decrease as a function of
the area of the molecular target is studied
Targets are implanted in gradually decreasing
areas and the sensitivity is calculated
We observe a significant degradation of
algorithmic performance as a function of the
target area.
